Statement of political prisoners at Evin Prison

Evin Prison
Protest against intensification of pressures, humiliation, insult and deprivation of medical services

Fifty-three political prisoners of ward 350 at Evin prison in their statement expressed concern regarding the critical condition of sick prisoners, denying them dispatch to hospital, cessation of their medical treatment, forcing prisoners to wear prisoner uniform, and other pressures and insulting measurements. They called for expeditious dispatch of patients to hospital and removal of coercion to wear prisoner uniforms. They stated that responsibility for any incidents or physical harm lies with the clerical regime and its judiciary.
To intensify pressures on political prisoners and to humiliate them, henchmen coerce political prisoners to wear prisoner uniforms during their transfer to hospital. These uniforms are extremely filthy and full of insects causing skin disease among prisoners. A number of political prisoners who refused to give in to this humiliation have been deprived by henchmen from medical care and medical appointments.
Meanwhile, political prisoner Ali Moazzi, refused to participate in a mullahs’ show trail in October where the judge was head henchman Salavati. As punishment for this refusal, he was transferred to solitary confinement in ward 240 of Evin prison and allowed no visitors.
Political prisoner Wahid Asghari also refrained from participating in a show trail on December 1, where henchman Salavati was the judge.
Iranian Resistance calls on all international bodies, particularly the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Rapporteurs for arbitrary detention and torture, and the Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran for immediate action for the release of political prisoners in Iran and the dispatch of a fact-finding delegation to investigate the abhorring condition of regime’s prisons, especially imposition of medieval pressures on the political prisoners.
