Allowing Abutalebi into US as Iran’s new UN envoy is a shame: former hostage

A US diplomat taken hostage back in 1979 after the US Embassy takeover in Tehran is furious today that one of those hostage takers may be welcomed into the US as Iran’s new UN envoy, CNN reported. 
This is more than an embarrassment, this is a shame to ally my colleagues who entered the most horrific episode of their lives, the diplomat said, adding our families suffered with us at the time. Allowing these individuals into the UN is a shameful and unbelievable measure.
Appointing Abutalebi as Iran’s envoy will be a poisonous measure because his record is completely clear for everyone, another US diplomat said.
The US has received Abutalebi’s request for a visa over a month ago. However, a decision on this issue is based on an investigation on his role in the hostage taking crisis and many senators are attempting to block this appointment, CNN added.
Senator Cruz has presented a bill that forces the Obama administration to not issue visas to a known terrorist.
