Fuel prices increasing in Iran
Rouhani’s executive deputy reported energy prices will be increasing in the near future. Mohammad Shariatmadari said, “The government is seeking an increase in the prices of energy by 24% with a slow trend forward.”
“After all people are registered through the specific forms the final price of gasoline will be announced in less than two weeks,” Shariatmadari said after being appointed by Rouhani to carry out the second phase of eliminating the subsidized goods.
The ‘Jahan News’ website had reiterated that during the past two months to this day the prices of electricity has increased by 24%, water by 20%, joint house gas prices by 20% and the prices of liquid gas, black oil and kerosene increased by 20%.
This state-run daily added, “The calculations show that with these increases in prices, the price of every liter of ordinary half-subsidized gasoline will be from 4,000 to 5,200 rials; every liter of half-subsidized super gasoline around 6,500 rials; every liter of ordinary gasoline costing around 9,100 rials on the free market, and the price of every liter of super gasoline costing 10,500 rials in the free market.”
