Maryam Rajavi praises 'responsible' stance of Iraqi Association of Muslim Scholars on Mosul Christians

NCRI - Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, praised the stance of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMS) in condemning aggression against the Christians of Mosul and described it as a responsible stance that challenges fundamentalism and religious extremism.
The Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq issued a statement on July 21 stating that the forcible migration of Christians from Mosul by ISIS is a “crime against the innocent and going astray from the path advised by the prophet of Islam in treating Christians and other monotheists” and called for them to be returned to their homes.
This statement emphasized: “Any property taken away from them is considered usurpation by the Islamic laws and should be returned to their rightful owners.”
Mrs. Rajavi added: The stances by various sections of the Iraqi society against the appalling measures targeting the Christians and their forcible migration demonstrates the loath of people of that country, especially in the liberated areas, for extremism, terrorism and fundamentalism.
Sheik Ali Hatam Soleiman, a leader of Iraqi tribes, also declared: “It is obligatory for all to stand with the Christian brothers who are facing murder, forced migration, and plunder of their property. This is against the religion of God and the prophet of Islam and the revolutionary tribes strongly condemn these measures that are contrary to the objectives of the revolution.”
Mr. Hamid Bafi, a leader of the Kurdish coalition, said that the Iraqi government is responsible for ISIS’s action in forcing Mosul’s Christians to migrate and that the Syrian and Iranian governments are the supporters of this group.
Aggression against Christians and followers of other religions is the well-known method of the religious tyranny in Iran and its elements. Such criminal measures are either directly organized by this regime and its proxies or come to serve this regime and the Syrian and Iraqi dictatorships.
