Iraq: For 17th day food, medicine and fuel blockade against Iranian refugee camp continued

NCRI - At the behest of the Iranian regime, for the 17th day, the Iraqi forces of Nouri al-Maliki stationed in Camp Liberty, obstructed the entry of fuel, food, medicine and other essential items to the camp near Baghdad that houses Iranian refugees.
Since the Government of Iraq does not allow the Camp Liberty’s electricity network to be connected to the city's grid, all systems in the camp such as kitchens, refrigerators, food freezer containers, lighting, air-conditioners and cooling systems, and black water systems all work with the electricity generated by camp’s electric generators.
As fuel reaching the camp has been interrupted, all these systems have ceased or are about to cease to function.
The air-conditioners and cooling equipment are not working and residents are tormented as they live in metal containers in 48 degrees Celsius temperatures. Every day, a number of residents suffer heat stroke. Residents are facing great difficulty in cooking their food.
Depriving residents of food, medicine and fuel is blatant case of crime against humanity.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations and the U.S. government who have committed themselves repeatedly and in writing to the health and security of residents to compel the Iraqi government to immediately raise this anti-human siege and provide free and unconditional access of residents to food, fuel, medicine and medical services.
The international community should not be silent in face of crime against humanity to allow another human catastrophe to unfold in Camp Liberty.
