Iranian Resistance conclusively acquitted by French justice

English translation of a report by Le Parisian, September 24, 2014
A definitive and general vindication is what several hundred members and supporters of the Iranian Resistance and celebrities and politicians just celebrated in a great conference on Wednesday afternoon at the Wagram Hall in Paris.
Representatives of Iranian communities from all over Europe attended this event that is described by the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), the principal group of the Iranian Resistance which advocates a democratic and tolerant Islam, as historic.
Paris counterterrorism Judges issued the verdict to end the long judicial process that initiated on 17 June 2003. This case had been opened after the biggest postwar police operation in France which saw 1300 police officers, including the elite force for the Raid, lead the assault against the Iranian Resistance Headquarters in the small village of Auvers-sur-Oise (Val d'Oise).
Led by former counterterrorism judge Jean-Louis Bruguière, in an operation that some call a "roundup of Auvers", 164 individuals were apprehended with most released shortly after.
"This case has turned world attention away from the fight against terrorism"
"Today, the French Justice admits that the resistance of the PMOI (MEK) is part of a legitimate resistance and not terrorism," said Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance. "This decision is a victory for justice. This shameful record was from the outset the outcome of a vile bargain with the religious fascism ruling Iran," she continues.
"This case has turned world attention away from the fight against terrorism. Instead of resisting against the religious fascism ruling Iran that for more than three decades has sown the seeds of terrorism in the Middle East and Africa through Hezbollah or ISIS, it was the alternative to this terrorist regime that was put down and it was the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), representing a democratic and tolerant Islam, that was tied up and beaten. This misguided policy paved the way for fundamentalism to the point that it now conducts recruitment on European soil."
"This second order of dismissal puts an end to unbearable legal saga", responded one of the lawyers of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) William Bourdon.
Finally, Mrs. Rajavi welcomed in her speech the fact that France is positioned at the forefront of resolving the crisis in Iraq against ISIS, but warned those who insist on working with the Iranian regime. "The people of Iran want France to stand with them rather than the side of tyranny," she said.
