Iran: Appeal to save two hunger strikers in Orumieh and Gohardasht prisons

NCRI - The Iranian Resistance has called on the international community to save Kurdish political prisoner Alireza Rassouli, incarcerated in the central prison of Orumieh (north-west of Iran), and Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, a labor activist imprisoned in Gohardasht (a suburb of Tehran).
The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights bodies to take effective measures regarding the situation of political prisoners in Iran, especially the two hunger strikers who are in a perilous state.
The life of Alireza Rassouli is in danger after 47 days on hunger strike in protest at being denied medical care.
Mr Rassouli, who is suffering from cancer, is continuing his hunger strike despite the worsening of his condition.
Mr Alireza Rassouli was arrested in February 2013 for protesting at a tragic fire in which schoolgirls were burned in the village of Chinabad in Kurdistan province, and he has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
The state of Behnam Ebrahimzadeh has also deteriorated. He has been on hunger strike since December 2 in protest at his transfer to the section in Gohardasht prison used to house inmates convicted of non-political offences.
He fainted on December 21 after refusing to take liquids. The prison authorities also increased the pressure on him by refusing to provide him with warm clothing.
Mr Ebrahimzadeh, a labor activist, was arrested in June 2010 and sentenced to five years imprisonment in a show trial.
Furthermore, Section 59 political prisoners in Karoun prison in city of Ahwaz (south-west Iran) have been on hunger strike since December 21 in protest at the appalling conditions in detention and the inhumane pressures they are subjected to.
They are also protesting at the lack of medical care. They are demanding medical care for Sahraroudi Jaber, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis, and Kazem Khochnamak, who suffers from acute osteoarthritis.

Christians arrested on Christmas Day in Iran: Report

Nine Christians were arrested in a house church in Iran on Christmas day and transferred to an unknown location, according to reports.
Members of Basij paramilitary force and armed plainclothes agent raided the house in the city of Roudehen in Tehran province.
Mehdi Kian, Ali Sadraddin, Mohammad Kazemi, Azin Faroudi, Mohammad Hossein Moridian, Maryam Narimani, Alireza Nasiri, Brother Matin are among those arrested.
The clerical regime in Iran continued human rights abuses in Iran during Christmas.
At dawn of the 25th December, on Christmas day when hundred of millions of people around the world were celebrating the birth of the Christ, the barbaric regime of Iran hanged 7 people in mass execution in Shiraz.
In a message on Wednesday, December 25, on the occasion of Christmas, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, called the clerical regime masking itself by Islam as the most ruthless enemy of Christ and Mohammad that in the name of religion they splash acid on the eyes of women, hang the youth, imprison the newly Christian converts, and violate their most rudimentary rights.
They are henchmen that execute and torture people for their religious beliefs, especially for following the true message of Mohammad and Christ, and impose the worst discriminations and atrocities.

Iran: Smart filtering does not mean lifting ban on blocked websites

Implementing ‘Smart filtering’ system does not mean that ban on already blocked websites and social networks will be removed, the government of Hassan Rouhani’s Communications and Information technology minister has said.
Mahmoud Vaezi said on Saturday that the ban on “the already blocked web sites such as Facebook and Youtube” will not be lifted.
The regime in Iran which has set up one of the strictest controls on Internet access in the world, and has blocked hundreds of thousands of websites and social networks.
Social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are routinely bypassed by tech-savvy Iranians using VPN software which disguises the physical location of Internet users. This is despite the fact that the authorities have arrested sellers and users of VPN software.
Deputy Information and Communication Technology Minister Nasrullah Jahangardi said on November 10: "The identity of everyone accessing a network must be known and anonymous users will be blocked.
"Only those having a clear identity will be allowed to use the Internet or access mobile networks. And this will be done when the transition from the IPV4 to IPV6 network is accomplished in Iran."
According to a report by Iran News Update, regime officials may be hoping that limited access to some websites will give citizens less incentive to circumvent outright bans. Alternatively, the regime may see this as an opportunity to more plausibly deny the observations of human rights groups and foreign politicians regarding Iran’s limits on free speech.
A survey by Iranian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports indicates that 69.3 percent of the country's young generation use proxy servers to by-pass the filters and access the banned Internet websites. According to one survey some four million Iranians are using Facebook.

Iranian Resistance welcomes Arms Trade Treaty, calls for halt of arms transfer to mullah

Transfer of arms to Iraq should be halted until security of Iranian refugees in Camp Liberty and other innocent civilians is guaranteed
NCRI - The Iranian Resistance welcomes the enforcement of the Global Arms Trade Treaty, as a significant step towards global peace and security and calls on the state parties to immediately halt the transfer of arms and weapons parts and components to the mullahs ruling Iran and demands the cessation of the sale or transfer of arms to Iraq until the security of Iranian opposition members in Camp Liberty, as well as other innocent civilians, is guaranteed.
The United Nations Secretary General announced on December 24 the coming into force of The Global Arms Trade Treaty nearly two years, after it was adopted by the UN General Assembly.
The treaty stipulates that the transfer of all arms and ammunition is prohibited in case they would be used for 'genocide, crimes against humanity, grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions of 1949, attacks directed against civilian objects or civilians protected as such, or other war crimes as defined by international agreements'.
The treaty emphasizes that the transferred arms should not endanger 'peace and security' or be in grave breach or facilitate the violation of International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law, and international conventions or protocols relating to terrorism and 'transnational organized crime'.
According to this treaty, the export of arms that would violate the obligations of a treaty State Party under measures adopted by the Security Council acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, in particular arms embargoes, is prohibited. In all of the above cases, the transfer of arms parts and components is also banned.
The arsenal of the clerical regime ruling Iran that is essentially filled by imports from other countries is totally employed in breach of the covenants and laws mentioned in this treaty and the export of any arms’ parts, big or small, heavy or light, to this regime violates the Arms Trade Treaty.
These arms are used for the massacre of the Iranian people, widespread arrests, suppression of popular demonstrations and protests, and collective executions, or are employed for crimes against humanity, war crimes, genocide, violation of international humanitarian and human rights laws inside Iran or in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. No wonder that neither the Iranian regime, nor the government of Iraq or the Assad regime joined this treaty.
Six ruthless massacres in Ashraf and Liberty, collective and arbitrary imprisonment of Iranian refugees, and a criminal siege on them, as well as the massacre of innocent Iraqi citizens in Iraq are all conducted by the arms sent to Iraq by states that are party to this treaty.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the state parties, especially the Western states, to refrain from transferring any arms to the Iranian regime and to make the sale of arms to Iraq conditional on them not being used in the massacre of the innocent, in particular the residents of Camp Liberty, and to secure and guarantee their security as protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention and as political refugees.

Iran: 5 prisoners including a woman executed in Zahedan

Five prisoners including a woman were hanged in Zahedan prison
At dawn today, Saturday December 27, 2014 five prisoners including a woman were hanged in Zahedan prison, south of Iran. One of the executed prisoners, Baba-ali Kakaei, 41, shop owner, married with two daughters was a low level merchant who according to his family made money off buying fabrics and material from border towns, and selling them to shop owners in Tehran.
According to a report, he was stopped at one check point during one of his business trips and asked for bribe money, but since he couldn’t come up with that money, he was arrested and imprisoned and years later was charged with selling narcotics and hanged today.
The man who had asked for bribe money is called Bameri, a judge in this province and the money he had requested from the family was 600 million Rials ($240,000 official rate of exchange). The poverty stricken family could not come up with this money which resulted in the man’s death.
Bameri has ordered most of the hangings and executions in this province.
Two other executed prisoners are Bahram Balouchi and Mohammad Paseban who are accuse of acting against God, an accusation which cannot be found in any legal book, except the mullahs’ constitution. The phone lined to the prison was all cut off for 24 hours during the executions.

Iran: the 2009 uprisings was with the aim of overthrowing the system

                     2009 nationwide uprisings in Iran
The head of the council of policy making for the Friday prayer sermons expressed fear of the repeat of the 2009 uprisings by millions of people in Iran which ignited by a flawed presidential elections. Mullah Reza Taghavi said in an interview with Iran State run television 'I consider the 2009 sedition - a term regime uses to refer to the 2009 popular uprisings – it is not a matter of disagreement between two candidates. Everybody who knows something about that sedition would not consider that simply as a disagreement between two men. It was rounding up millions of people. How can you say that millions of people came out to streets just to say where is my vote? Or to beat up the Basij militants with concrete blocks or to create barricades on the streets or to attack the Basij militants’ basis in Tehran? I consider this an act with the aim of overthrowing the regime.

Tehran cemetery: holding memorial for a fallen activist during 2009 uprising

Mostafa Karim-Baigi, an activist who was killed in 2009 Uprising
A memorial ceremony was held in Tehran main cemetery, Behesht-e Zahra on Friday December 26th to remember Mostafa Karim-Baigi, an activist who was killed during a shooting at the peaceful protesters in Tehran by the Suppressive Security Guards. His family, friends and some ex-political prisoners attended this ceremony laying flowers at his gravesite. A number of women who also had lost sons or daughters during the 2009 uprisings participated at the ceremony. The security forces constantly threatened the family to finish up the ceremony and leave the area fast, but the family ignored their intimidation and continued with their ceremony.

Iran: Execution and suppression continued in Christmas

The clerical regime in Iran refused to halt its cycle of atrocities and executions even during Christmas. The regime henchmen hanged at least seven prisoners in the Adelabad Prison in Shiraz at dawn on Christmas day.
On December 18 and 14, ten other prisoners were secretly hanged in same prison that it is known for being one with most appalling condition.
Likewise, on Christmas Eve (December 24), two other prisoners were transferred to solitary confinements in the quarantine section of Zahedan’s central prison to await their execution.
In a message on Wednesday, December 25, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, congratulated the Christian compatriots on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year and wished them a year full of peace, liberty, tolerance and prosperity.
Rajavi called the clerical regime masking itself by Islam as the most ruthless enemy of Christ and Mohammad and added: In the name of religion they splash acid on the eyes of women, hang the youth, imprison the newly Christian converts, and violate their most rudimentary rights. They are henchmen that execute and torture people for their religious beliefs, especially for following the true message of Mohammad and Christ, and impose the worst discriminations and atrocities. They have set up a bloodthirsty religious tyranny that is the epicenter of fundamentalism and terrorism under the banner of Islam and the Godfather of all villains in the Middle East that today kill the innocent captives and hostages and force Christians and believers of other faiths to migrate and become homeless.

Iraqi forces intensify pressures on Iranians in Camp Liberty in need of medical care

NCRI - The Iraqi force stationed in the camp near Baghdad International Airport that houses Iranian dissidents have prevented the entry of gasoline for a few vehicle used for transfer of the sick and wounded residents.
This is the third week that the Iraqi forces ate not allowing the small amount of gasoline purchased by the residents to enter the camp.
The residents basically use the vehicles to distribute food and to transport the sick and wounded and those who are unable to walk on gravel-covered walkways of the camp.
The latest measure is doubling the pressures on the resident particularly the sick and wounded in the camp that continues to be subject of logistical and medical siege.
On December 21 and 22, the Iraqi forces did not allow the interpreters to accompany four sick residents going to hospital in Baghdad. Due to long delay caused by Iraqi forces the patients returned from hospital without reaching any results.
Based on the repeated and written commitments of the US government and the United Nations with respect to the safety and security of Camp Liberty residents, the Iranian resistance demands immediate intervention to end the criminal siege of the camp and to allow gasoline enter the camp.

Iranian political prisoners support Iranian Resistance to end the regime’s barbarism

Iranian political prisoners support the Resistance
The international community must support the Iranian Resistance as the only way to end human rights abuses in Iran, Iranian political prisoners have announced in a statement.
The declaration came after a resolution by the United Nations harshly criticised widespread abuses and the suppression of citizens in the regime. The group of prisoners in Gohardasht Prison and the main prison in city of Karaj said in their statement: 'The only way to counter this medieval regime is to fully support the Iranian people and their Resistance.
'TO this end, we the signatories of this statement demand that the international community end their policy of appeasement with the regime, which is the godfather of terrorism and refer the Iranian regime’s human rights record to the United Nations to implement binding measures in this regard.'
On December 18, the 61st resolution condemning the violation of human rights in the Iran under the mullahs’ rule was adopted by the UN General Assembly.
The prisoners demand also follows a call by Iranian Resistance leader Maryam Rajavi urging the international community to adopt binding provisions against the rising trend of executions and the systematic and serious violation of human rights in Iran. She stressed that the regime is the world record holder not just for the number of executions, but also for barbaric oppression in all other realms.
She called for the United Nations Security Council to refer the regime’s criminal record to the International Criminal Court, and said that as long as the mullahs are not held accountable for human rights violations and increasing executions, they will neither abandon their production of nuclear weapons, nor their support for terrorism or domination in the Middle East.

Iran Khomeini is accused of ordering the shooting of Pope

                    Pope John Paul II
Less than a week ago, in an interview in a Serbian TV, a Turkish gunman who shot the pope John Paul claimed in a book he has written titled 'They promised me Paradise' that he was ordered to assassinate Pope John Paul II by the late Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mehmet Ali Agca says he told John Paul of the Iranian connection when the Pope visited him in prison inTurkey.
Agca shot and wounded John Paul in May 1981 in St. Peter’s Square. He was released from prison in 2010.
The Iranian regime embassy in Belgrade on Thursday denied the claim according to AP.

Senator Roy Blunt: We gave our commitments to camp Ashraf, and we have not kept those commitments

                    Senator Roy Blunt
I am senator Blunt from Missouri, I am pleased to be able to welcome you here, and to do whatever we needed to do to be sure that we had this space for you to have this important discussion
It has been little over a year now since the sanctions were lifted in Iran something that I thought should not happen at the time. Every day I am more and more certain that I was right that, that should not have happened and things seemed to be moving in a direction toward of some kind of conclusion. And it seems to me that conclusion we are moving toward now, is not an acceptable one or one that we should be part of. But you are going to be talking about that with people who understand the issue in detail, who understand the criticality of the moment in detail, who understand, at least in my view, incredibly bad judgment to continue to extend the talks going on with Iran as they continue do exactly the things we would not want them to be doing and the world should not want them to be doing.
Another issue that I have been involved in, and is critically important issue, of what happens with the people at camp Liberty, people that we gave our commitment to camp Ashraf, and we have not kept that commitment. But you are really benefiting today from a great moderator Francis Townsend, and a great panel, Ambassador Bolton, who I admire so much as I do General Kean, and my good friend senator Lieberman who we worked for yeas when I was in the house and he was in the senate and brief time we were in senate together to find more things we could work on but these Foreign Policy issues and our National Defense issues have always been issues that I was proud to stand side by side with Joe Lieberman on, he is a great reflection of what public service should be about. He is straight forward, he is knowledgeable, he is a defender of democracy and freedom, and it’s my great honor to introduce him today,  Joe Lieberman!

Iran hangs 7 people in a mass execution on Christmas

Seven prisoners executed on Christmas in Iran
On the same day as hundreds of millions of people around the world celebrate the birth of the Christ on Christmas, the criminal and barbaric regime of Iran hanged 7 people at dawn on Christmas day in a mass execution in Shiraz. They were recently transferred to Shiraz prison.
A week ago, on December 18 another 8 prisoners were hanged in the same city which makes it 15 executions in just one week.

Christian Pastor spends fourth Christmas in Iran prison

Iranian pastor Farshid Fathi is to spend his fourth Christmas behind bars this year after being convicted of 'acting against national security' for leading a network of underground evangelical house churches.
The 35-year-old Christian cleric is being held in the Rajai Shahr prison, near Tehran, where he shares a cell with hardened criminals, London-based public-affairs strategist Miles Windsor wrote.
Mr Windsor, who works on behalf of Christians persecuted in the Middle East, said: "This will be Pastor Farshid Fathi’s fourth Christmas in an Iranian prison, yet his fortitude, faith and indomitable spirit continues to impress and encourage.
"Pastor Fathi converted to Christianity at the age of 17. As the pastor would soon learn, Iran is a very dangerous place to worship Christ.
"The Tehran regime likes to tout its treatment of Iran’s historic Christian communities, the Armenians and Assyrians, as a testament to its tolerance.
"The mullahs reserve the most vicious treatment for Iranian Muslims, like Pastor Fathi, who have dared to convert to Christianity. Persian-language Bibles are banned in the country, and apostasy is punishable by death under Shariah law, which lies at the heart of the Iranian penal code.
"Yet to mask its naked persecution of Christian converts, the Tehran regime usually jails them on national-security charges or on the pretext that they spy for foreign powers.
"That’s what happened to Pastor Fathi. In December 2010, the father of two was arrested and arbitrarily detained in Tehran’s nightmarish Evin Prison. His 'crime' was serving as the leader of a network of underground evangelical house churches.
"After a year-long interval, during which he spent months in solitary confinement and was subjected to psychological abuse, he was convicted by a revolutionary court of 'acting against national security' and sentenced to six years."
Then in April, Pastor Fathi was one of several prisoners beaten during an attack by security forces on Ward 350 of Evin, Mr Windsor said.
He added: "His right to family visits, guaranteed under Iran’s own laws, is routinely violated. He isn’t permitted to sing Christians hymns, and prison authorities have confiscated his Bible.
"For the past few years, I have been advocating on behalf of Pastor Fathi and other Iranian Christians in Westminster and before the regime’s representatives. Though his case angers me and calls me to action, I am more often impressed and encouraged by the pastor’s fortitude, faith and indomitable spirit as they are reflected in his letters to supporters from prison.
"His latest contains a powerful Christmas message: 'Although the beauty of Christmas or the signs of Christmas cannot be found in this prison, with the ears of faith I can hear the everlasting and beautiful truth that: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel'."
"It is signed “your captive brother who is free in Christ."

Video: Maryam Rajavi’s Christmas and New Year’s greeting 2015

Text of Christmas and New Year video message by Mrs Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran:
Friends and supporters of the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance,
I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Christmas brings with it the spirit of peace, solidarity and tolerance when people all around the world come together to celebrate the victory of love over hate, revenge, and aggression.
The Holy Koran recounts that Jesus Christ said: "I shall bring blessing and dignity to all people wherever I may be."
During the holiday season, we do not forget that the Christian community in Iran is suppressed especially our Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq and the region. Tonight, many Christian families in Iran see the empty chairs of their fathers, brothers, and mothers at dinner tables. The fundamentalist regime in Iran continues to arrest and discriminate against ethnic and religious minorities.
We SHALL not forget all those jailed, tortured and executed simply for believing in a cause greater than themselves, FREEDOM. We SHALL not forget disfigured innocent girls who were targets of acid attacks by gangs led by the mullahs regime. Let us pay tribute to sacrifices by the freedom fighters at Camp Liberty in the path for the ultimate Peace.
We all know that "God's Grace is free, but Bringing Joy to the world has its price"
The Ashrafis, are living proof that the Iran of tomorrow will never tolerate anything less than FREEDOM and they have been paying a heavy price to guarantee a lasting one. There have been rocket attacks, massacres, and an inhumane medical siege. Their perseverance, self-sacrifice and tolerance continue to inspire us all.
So, during this joyous time of the year, we look back with gratitude and look forward with hope and optimism. 2014 was a remarkable year, filled with achievements for the Iranian Resistance thanks to your support and encouragement. In 2015, we will renew our commitment to a free, non-nuclear and democratic Iran.
I look forward to work with all of you to bring that day closer. Together, we can start a new chapter of opposition against the beating heart of fundamentalism in Tehran. The thoughts and prayers of the great family of the Iranian Resistance are with you.
May you and your family be blessed with happiness.
From all of us to your families, A Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Iran; protest gathering of students and the petrochemical workers

Protest gathering in front of the parliament building in Tehran

Iran; protest gathering of students in Garmsar
More than 200 students of Allameh Rafee University in Garmsar, north central Iran gathered in front of management office of this university on Saturday Dec. 20th, to protest against authorities not attending and not solving the educational and other demands of students.
One of the students said the conditions in campus are very poorly managed and it is similar to old schools going back a century.  It is truly backwardness! The university is located in the heart of an old village which its residents do not have drinkable water. Lack of proper transport services, dormitory and other problems has led every student to lose patience. This protest gathering is the logical outcome of such a disastrous condition.

The protest gathering of a number of the petrochemical workers

A number of Ilam Petrochemical workers gathered in front of the regime parliament building in Tehran to protest against not being officially and legally hired in this company and delays in their unpaid salaries.
A protester said: it has been about 5 years since we have been working in this place, and every time they hold a qualification exam and tell us that we cannot meet the obligatory requirement and qualifications to be hired. We gathered here with our family to protest against this unjust situation. We also demand to receive our last few months of unpaid salaries.

"They tore up my paper crosses" writes an Iranian-American priest from the notorious Evin prison

                      Iranian-American pastor Saeed Abedini

Saeed Abedini, an Iranian-American pastor who is suffering the harsh treatments of the notorious Evin prison authorities, has written a letter on the eve of the Christmas insisting on his beliefs despite the prison pressures.
Mr. Abedini writes: 'The weather is very cold here. The tine window of prison cell does not have a glass, so the cold weather gets in all the time. It is very difficult to sleep at nights. Harassments by prison guards add to this horrible situation. They came and tore up the paper crosses I had made for the Christmas. I am welcoming the Christmas far away from my family and loving children.'
This Iranian-American pastor, who came to Iran in September 2012 from United States to visit his family in Iran, was arrested and sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment. Mr. Abedini adds: 'Christmas means the love and presence of God in our hearts and to lift our sins from our shoulders. God comes to heel our pains…'
His wife Naghmeh says, she and their two small children are going through hard times and are extremely worried of his situation. But we are certain that Saied’s resolve and commitments on his beliefs would save the lives of others…

Iran: Ayatollah Kazemaini Boroujerdi’s heath is deteriorating

Ayatollah Kazimini Boroujerdi in Evin Prison

According to reports, the health condition of Ayatollah Kazemaini Boroujerdi has worsened in recent days and weeks. He was admitted to the prison clinic on Friday 19 December suffering from severe back and limbs pain. The pain and complication were so severe that it almost paralyzed him inside his cell. He was transferred to the clinic via ambulance. The doctor said severe physical and psychological pressures are the cause of his problems and has resulted in neurotic shocks. Hi is also suffering from high diabetes. Lack of medication and proper treatments have contributed to his complicated case.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi was previously diagnosed for kidney stone and heart palpitation and lung disease. Adding to all of these, the recent neurotic shocks have worsened his condition to an alarming extend.
The family of Ayatollah Kazemaini Boroujerdi expressed worries over his health and asked all influential international and local organizations and institutions to pressure the Iranian regime’s authorities to transfer this political prisoner to a hospital outside the prison for medical care.

Iran: Hiring foreign women as house maid is illegal

Female foreign workers are banned from working as maids

In a misogynist move, Iran’s labor ministry banned hiring female foreign workers as maids in Hotels and houses.
Ali Eghbali, labor ministry’s general director overseeing foreign laborers in the country said the ministry has not given work permit to foreign female workers from Philippine or other nations. Therefore if such women are found working in houses under any pretext, the offenders would face felony charges.
He described the fines and charges for committing this felony as five times the amount of daily salary for every day that the woman has worked in the house, and if it is repeated again, it would be 10 times the amount of the maid’s daily salary…
