Iran: Another political prisoner on hunger Strike

political prisoner Saeed Hosseinzadeh

In his letter from inside Ward 7 of the notorious Evin Prison after 3 days of hunger strike, Saeed Hosseinzadeh, political prisoner and civil activist wrote: “The court ruling issued for me added to my earlier sentence. A need for medical leave and the fact that I am not physically fit to serve time in jail has been confirmed. Despite all this, due to the fact that Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) intelligence elements oppose this ruling, they are preventing my release from prison.”
Saeed Hosseinzadeh suffered from numerous illnesses while in jail, including breathing disorders, rheumatism, heart illnesses and intestinal disorders. However, despite all the legal follow-ups regarding his judicial dossier, his lawyer has yet to be allowed to review his client’s case.
Hosseinzadeh was arrested at his home by IRGC agents back in September 2014 and immediately transferred to solitary confinement in the IRGC-controlled ward 2A of Evin Prison. In a preliminary court he was sentenced to 7 years behind bars for propaganda against the state and insulting the supreme leader.
