Iran: Rise in suicide, mullahs’ New Year's gift for women

A 22-year-old woman, Tara Azizpoor, committed suicide on March 15 and died. She was single and worked as a bank employee in the Kurdish city of Mahabad.

Also, an 18-year-old girl identified as “F” committed suicide and lost her life in the western city of Saqqez on March 8.

The rising number of suicides is a result of poverty, unemployment and suppression especially among women.
