Coronavirus Death Toll Increasing Throughout Iran Fatalities in 334 Cities Exceed 54,600

The death toll from the Coronavirus is rising across Iran. The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, June 21, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 334 cities had exceeded 54,600. The death toll in Khuzestan is 4,490, Qom 3,765, Isfahan 3,095, Gilan 2,950, Lorestan 2,030, Golestan 2,016, Sistan and Baluchestan 1,995, Alborz 1,890, West Azerbaijan 1,545, Kurdistan 1,175.
Saeed Namaki, Regime’s Health Minister, told the state-run news agency Mizan, yesterday, “Even in the provinces where we think we have passed the first wave of the Coronavirus outbreak, we have not fully experienced the first wave. We must believe that Coronavirus is not over. We have not passed the peak of the disease, and Coronavirus is a complex virus with a hundred thousand faces … We must live with this virus for at least two years.”
Massoud Mardani, member of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), told the IRGC affiliated news agency, Fars, yesterday, “We had closed many Coronavirus wards, but we had to reopen these wards. Currently, we have a similar situation in the provinces, and ten provinces are red… The second wave has started, and we should also think of the third wave. If the situation continues like this, we will be dealing with the disease until the end of the year (March 2021 in Persian Calendar).”
In Tehran, Alireza Zali, head of the NCCT, told ISNA news agency today, “In the last two weeks, the graph of the number of outpatients, inpatients, and intensive care unit patients, as well as the number of deaths has been changing (increasing). The new wave of COVID-19 patients puts additional workload on the health care system, and especially on the nursing staff.”
In Khuzestan, deputy regime parliament from Ahvaz was quoted by the state TV news agency on June 20, 2020, as saying, “The fact that the statistics are not announced is a cause for concern for the people, and the fact that someone near us dies every day brings with it a sense of fear and anxiety. At the present time, it is necessary to use force to prevent unions, funerals, and weddings, and to stand firm against them.”
In Fars Province, the vice-president of Shiraz Medical Sciences University was quoted by IRNA news agency today as saying, “More than 9,500 cases of Coronavirus infection have been identified in the Province…. It has already passed the warning stage and the number of infections is increasing every day. Since a week ago, we have seen an unprecedented increase in the number of new cases. A 100-bed temporary hospital has once again been set up in Dastghaib stadium. Also, six ambulatory medical centers have been added.”
The president of Tabriz Medical Sciences University in East Azerbaijan Province told FARS news agency, yesterday, “On average, 350 new cases of infection are identified in the Province every day, and 33 percent of the tests are positive.”
The president of Medical Sciences University in Kurdistan Province told Mehr news agency yesterday, “259 new cases of infection have been identified in the past 24 hours, and right now there are 554 Coronavirus patients hospitalized in the Province hospitals.”
Mehr also quoted the president of Semnan’s Medical Sciences University on June 20, 2020, as saying, “Since the spread of Coronavirus, 30 percent of the people in this region have been infected.”
In Central Province, the Governor was quoted by the same news agency yesterday as saying, “In the past 15 days, the number of those infected with COVID19 in the province has increased five-fold relative to the previous 15 days. This is dangerous.”
In Bushehr, the Governor said the hospital lack the capacity to deal [those infected], and “the upward trend is disconcerting,” according to IRNA today.
In Alborz Province, the president of the Medical Sciences University reporters, “A 30 percent increase in the number of outpatients to the Province’s treatment centers,” according to Mehr on June 20, 2020.
In Hormozgan, Deputy Health Minister said, “To confront Coronavirus in Hormozgan, State Security Force and IRGC hospitals have also been used. The Army’s Navy hospital will be added to those dealing with Coronavirus patients,” according to Baz Khabar yesterday.
In Lorestan, the Governor said, “Unfortunately, the trend of infection has been on the rise so far. Every day, 190 to 200 are being infected,” reported ISNA yesterday. Azna’s Governor added, “Coronavirus trend is having a rapidly rising trend such as 120 were infected in five days,” according to Hamshahri on June 21.
