Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 478 Cities Exceeds 196,000

• The Spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry: In the second week of January, the highest death rate was in Mazandaran, Gilan, Ardabil, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces. Deaths and hospitalizations in Mazandaran are significantly higher than the national average. (IRNA news agency, January 2, 2021)
• Alireza Zali, head of the NCCT in Tehran: Despite all the restrictions, we still do not see any noticeable change in Tehran. We are still facing many patients, 290 of whom were in critical condition yesterday. (ISNA news agency, January 2, 2021)
• Alireza Raisi, NCCT’s spokesman: We are at the third peak of the COVID-19 outbreak in Mazandaran, and most cities in this Province have been affected by the virus. (IRNA, January 2, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Saturday, January 2, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 478 cities across Iran had exceeded 196,000. The number of victims in Tehran is 48,091, Khorasan Razavi 13,305, Isfahan 12,095, Khuzestan 9,915, Lorestan 7,898, Mazandaran 7,477, West Azerbaijan 7,293, Gilan 6,951, Fars 5,998, Sistan and Baluchestan 4,761, Kerman 4,313, Kurdistan 3,356, Semnan 2,954, Ardabil 2,407, Ilam 2,020, and Bushehr 1,979.
