Iran: Women stage protest for water

Women in the northeastern city of Neishabour have been staging gatherings for a number of days, before the Governor’s office to protest against drinking water and gas cut-offs.

“Our water has been cut off for 13 days. In response to our complaints, they say we are not within the city's limits whereas our houses are located only 300 meters away from Azad University's dormitory,” said the protestors’ representative.
She added, “We have written to the Governor several times but nobody is accountable. We are 50 women gathering here across from the Governor's Office to demand our rights. Our neighborhood has a population of 700 people and people are fighting each other over drinking water.
