US Senators introduce plan to sanction Khamenei, Rouhani on rights violations

Mark Kirk and Marco Rubio, two senior Republican members of the US Senate, introduced a plan to intensify sanctions against the Iranian regime adding Khamenei and Rouhani to the list of US sanctions.
The US government has during the past few years blacklisted various Iranian regime officials including former Minister of Intelligence Mullah Heidar Moslehi, paramilitary Bassij chief Mohammad Reza Naghdi, and Tehran public prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi on human rights violations.
The two senators are also considering establishing a coordinating office related to Iran’s human rights and democracy issues and allocate a minimum budget of $32 million for this project.
