Over 30,000 young Iranian girls forced to marry under the age of 15

       
The Iran Registration Organization has recently published a chart on the age of couples who have married in a 9 month period in 2013.
According to this data 30,956 individuals of the 579,871 married couples were girls under the age of 15, consisting of 3.5% of all the marriages in the country. Based on this data during the past seven years one third of the registered married women have been under the age of 19. (Khabar Online – July 7, 2014)
