Report on recent executions in northwestern Iran prison

A local source reported 10 inmates of Urumieh Central Prison were sent to the gallows in two days recently. On May 22nd, at least four inmates – two of them women – by the names of Golchin Nouri, Amene Tusan, Yousef Ma’roufi and Farough Mofseri were executed in this facility on charges of possessing narcotics.
Local sources said 9 inmates were executed on this day but their identities were not disclosed.
This local source said on the days of Saturday, June 14th, and Monday, June 16th, 12 inmates accused of retribution, were transferred to the quarantine section of this prison and on 7 am in the morning of the next day, at the presence of the victim’s parents, the executions of Saeed Varmarziyari, Arash Ahmadvash, Ibrahim Dalaei-Milan and Hamed Aghaei were carried out. However, the executions of two individuals were stopped with the compliance of the victims’ parents.
Also, on Monday, June 26th, six inmates by the names of Faramarz Pashaei, Naghad Ali Rajaei, Parviz Nikkhu, Abdulvahab Dalir, Rashid Moradi and Abdolkarim Herculi, accused of possessing narcotics, were transferred to the quarantine section of Urumieh Central Prison.
According to this source, at 11:30 pm local time a death row inmate by the name Naghad Ali Rajaei, 45, suffered a heart attack. However, prison officials took this literally half-dead inmate to the gallows and had him executed along with 5 other inmates. (Zamane Radio – June 27, 2014)
