Iran: Video shows August prison protest that was followed by guards opening fire

NCRI - A video has been leaked showing the inmates in Qezel Hessar prison in mid August when at least 11 prisoners were killed after the prison guards opened fire.
The" target="_blank"> video published by HRANA News website shows inmates protesting executions of prisoners by the Iranian regime henchmen.
On August 18, following the transfer of their cellmates to the execution hall, a large number of inmates in ward two of Qezel Hessar prison staged a protest. Anti-riot Special Forces attacked them and immediately opened fire, killing and injuring dozens of inmates.
Suppressive forces also attacked the prisoners’ families who had gathered outside the prison to protest against the killing of their children. The forces tried to disperse them by firing teargas and shooting in the air.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance said on August 18 that the arbitrary and mass execution of the prisoners and opening fire on defenseless inmates reflected the savagery of the religious fascism ruling Iran on the one hand, and its vulnerability and desperation on the other. She added that through torture, execution, intimidation and terror, the criminal mullahs were trying to thwart the rise in popular protests.
She stressed that continuing and expanding economic ties with the clerical regime must be predicated upon the halt in executions and improvement in the situation of human rights in Iran.
