A university student and political prisoner, Habibollah Latifi has been held in limbo for the past 9 years in Sanandaj Prison, western Iran. He was studying his last year of Industrial Engineering in Ilam University, western Iran when he was arrested on October 23, 2007 and sentenced to death on a bogus and illegal charges of “moharebe” (enmity against God). He had to endure more than three months of physical and psychological torture in solitary confinement.
“He has never been provided any leave; and his visits with family members have only been through glass walls and inside cabins and there has not been any close contact personal encounter with a family member,” according to a close friend.
