The Iranian regime has reinstalled jamming devices in Gohardasht Prison in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran, in order to further harass and torture political prisoners. The reinstallation and increasing of jamming signals in this facility’s political prisoner ward has serious physical and psychological for the inmates.

According to reports obtained from inside Iran, at least 2 of these political prisoners, including Karim Ma’rouf Aziz, were taken to hospital after the reinstallation of these devices. These reports indicate ever since the devices were installed the political prisoners especially the old and sick are suffering from severe headaches, fatigue, vomiting, sleeping disorders, dizziness and other symptoms. The prisoners suffering from such physical and psychological conditions after these devices have been installed include Mohammad Banazadeh Amir-Khizi, Shahrokh Zamandi, Kamaladin Khanjani, Mashallah Haeri, Riyaz Sobhani, Behrouz Aziz Tavakoli, Khaled Hardani and Saleh Kohandel.

These pressures are not limited to just the installation of these devices. Ministry of Intelligence interrogators for some time now have been carrying out measures such as cutting off water, blocking transfer of patients to hospitals and receiving medical care.
