Iran: Evin political prisoners go on hunger strike protesting Thursday's raid



The political prisoners in Ward 350 of Tehran infamous Evin Prison have began a hunger strike since Friday, April 18, to protest Thursday's raid by members of the Iranian regime's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) during which a number prisoners were severely injured and 32 of injured prisoner were taken to solitary cells.

Meanwhile, the families of the political prisoners staged a protest on Saturday, April 19. outside Tehran’s Public Prosecutor’s Office in Ark Square supporting the prisoners protest.

A large group of members of IRGC and agents of MOIS, joined by special forces in the prison, raided Ward 350 of the prison using inspections as an excuse. They barbarically battered, insulted and humiliated the political prisoners.

A number of prisoners were severely injured, including Gholamreza Khossravi-Savadjani, Assadollah Hadi, Javad Fouladvand, Assadollah Assadi, Omid Behrouzi, Esmaeil Barzegarei and Emad Bahavar.

Mr. Assadollah Hadi who has recently had an open-heart surgery is in dire conditions. The henchmen have chained the hands and feet of Omid Behrouzi and Esmaeil Barzegareito to beds in Evin’s infirmary.

The henchmen in Evin have transferred 32 political prisoners to solitary cells in Ward 240 of Evin despite having injuries and their need for medical treatment. So far there is no news on their conditions.
