Protests in Shahr-e Kord, south-central Iran

Tens of thousands of residents in the south-central Iranian city of Shahr-e Kord held a massive rally and demanded the Revolutionary Guards to stop their projects of stealing the waters of Zayande River for their own profits.
The regime’s IRGC is the contractor of rosewater tunnel projects in this area, and experts have said with 650 kilometers long tunnels being constructed at the depth of 300 meters, the entire Chahar Mahal & Bakhtiari Province will turn into a desert.
Therefore, the residents of this province have protested and chanted specifically against these plans.
The presence of women and youth of Shahr-e Kord, who threatened to take up arms to protect their rights, has caused immense fear amongst the mullahs’ regime.
Regime officials, including members of Majlis (parliament) from Shahr-e Kord and criminal Friday prayer leader in this city have deceitfully tried to pose themselves as in support of the people’s position. The protesters called on Rouhani’s energy minister to resign. Therefore, the residents of Shahr-e Kord are targeting the regime in its entirety in their protest gatherings.
The brave women of this city have not backed down in the face of threats posed by the regime’s elements, saying if they don’t destroy the tunnels the people will take matters into their own hands. The youth of this city have described the next protest measure as ‘explosive’.
