Iran: another admission of high number of executions by government officials

Mass executions in Iran under Rouhani

It was Cultural Committee Chairman’s turn this time to come to stage and admit the astonishing number of executions carried out in Iran in recent months.
Mullah Ahamd Salak, the chair of Cultural Committee of the Parliament tried to mask and justify the head boggling wave of executions in Iran. He said 'some have objected and say why we execute so many? We have over 400 people on death row in prison. There are 3 rooms for those between 15 to 30 years of age.'
On Saturday, Ali Jannati, Rouhani’s Cultural Minister also expressed surprise and in an astonishing admission wondered 'How many have we executed and how many more are on the waiting list? This figure is unprecedented.'
