Sunni cleric arrested in south-east Iran

Agents of the Iranian regime arrested a Sunni cleric last week in a raid on his home in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, south-east Iran.
On Tuesday, May 17, Mowlavi Qasem Qanbarzehi was handcuffed, arrested and taken away by the Iranian regime’s suppressive security agents who did not produce a warrant. They also seized his clothes and other personal items.
Mr. Qanbarzehi’s family went to the local office of the infamous Ministry of Intelligence where officials denied that he had been arrested.
Mr. Qanbarzehi was arrested in Daman village, about 25 kilometers from Iranshahr in the impoverished province were many Sunni Muslim Iranians are persecuted by the mullahs’ regime.
According to reports, Mr. Qanbarzehi’s house was also broken into last month by suppressive state security forces looking for his laptop.
