Iran, Karaj: Protest action by Sunni prisoners after execution of 6 Kurdish prisoner last week

Following the transfer and execution of 6 Sunni prisoners in Gohardasht prison in Karaj, west of Tehran last week, Sunni prisoners in that prison have been ignoring and disobeying directives from the warden in protest to the criminal act against their cellmates. The have stopped leaving their cells since Tuesday Mar. 3rd for the so called fresh air and have staged sit-ins inside the prison halls. In a scandalous act, the prison authorities have been telling other Gohardasht prisoners to use the time for taking fresh air instead of the Sunni population who have refused to go outside, but this dirty scheme has also failed and other political prisoners in there have also refused to go for this scheme and expressed solidarity with Sunni striking prisoners.
