Iran: Tense situation in the city of Mahabad and pressure on the prisoners

Iran clerical regime has increased pressure on Mahabad prisoners
Following the recent uprisings of people of Mahabad, the clerical regime has intensified the pressure on prisoners in that city. According to reports from Mahabad, the clerical regime has canceled all weekly family reunions for the prisoners and all phone calls to and from the prison has been suspended.
In addition, prison guards and wardens have increased the number of unannounced inspections and control of prisoners has picked up steam. The presence of security guards in wards and halls has also increased. Prisoners are also being taken to interrogations more frequent.
The city of Mahabad, northwestern Iran was the scene of people’s uprising last week following the tragic death of the young Farinaz Khosrawani who fell to her death from the fourth floor of the hotel she use to work. Her fall was a reaction by her to avoid being sexually abused by an intelligence agent of the mullahs’ regime.
People demonstrated and clashed with the security forces. They also burned down the hotel which the people claimed its owner colluded with the agent to allow Farinaz being molested by that man in return for a favor from the intelligence ministry agent giving the hotel a five star rating.
