Iran: Political prisoner Ali Moezzi’s lawyer barred from defending his client


The Iranian regime’s judiciary has barred the lawyer of the political prisoner Ali Moezzi from defending him. Mr. Moezzi’s lawyer form accessing his client’s file. The prison term of Mr. Moezzi will end next month, but the Iranian regime has brought nes fabricated charges against him.
Cleric Asef Hosseini, head of the court branch in Karaj, prevented the lawyer of political prisoner Mr. Ali Moezzi from defending him.
On May 11, he did not permit the lawyer to review the case and subsequently refused to hear the protest of Mr. Moezzi’s lawyer.
Mr. Ali Moezzi is a political prisoner of the 1980s. Because of his participation in the burial ceremony of another political prisoner, Mohsen Dokmechi, he was arrested and charges were fabricated against him leading to a prison term of several years.
His sentence will end by June 7, but the Iranian regime’s intelligence ministry has brought up new allegations against him and summoned him to court.
Mr. Moezzi who considers regime’s courts as illegal and illegitimate has refused to appear before the court.
