Sattar Beheshti, a young Iranian blogger and a critic of the clerical regime in Iran was arrested two years ago for his blogs and his critical comments of the clerical establishment. He was immediately put under torture which finally ended in his death under torture. A few days later, his body was released to his family.
On the second anniversary of his martyrdom, a number of prominent Iranian activists appeared at his grave site expressing condolences to her grieving mother, Ms. Gohar Eshghi.
Despite a statement of confession from his torturer that Sattar was killed due to severity of tortures, no one has been arrested or put on trial for this heinous crime. His murderer has said that while he was beating and torturing Sattar, this brave young blogger was smiling.
Ms. Gohar Eshghi, Sattar’s mother was invited to the United States to receive the prize for her martyred son. But Ms. Eshghi expressed her gratitude and humbleness via a video clip she recorded and sent to the New England authorities in the US.
