Iran: Kurdish women beaten up and arrested on New Year's Eve

A number of Kurdish civil activists held a New Year ceremony in Qasrian village of Sanandaj on March 19.
After the ceremony, security forces arrested a number of participants. So far, three women by the names of Sara Mirani, Ladan Sohrabi and Shahla Vakili have been identified among those arrested. Others have been summoned by phone.
Families of those arrested staged a protest gathering outside the Department of Justice in Sanandaj which led to further clashes with security forces as they insulted those protesters who were wearing traditional Kurdish costumes.
