Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 486 Cities Exceeds 221,400


 Alireza Zali, head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) in Tehran: Statistics of COVID-19 outpatients, inpatients, and ICU patients has increased by 12.1, 10.1, and 9 percent, respectively compared to last week. (Mehr news agency, February 25, 2021)

  • Head of Hazrat Rasoul Hospital in Tehran: Since last week, the number of hospitalizations has increased by 20% and will continue as such in the coming days. (State TV, February 24, 2021)
  • Hamid Souri, head of the National Epidemiology Committee: We had the news of the death of a one-day-old baby due to COVID-19. The demography of patients has become much broader. (State TV, February 24, 2021)
  • Dean of Abadan University Medical school: To prevent further transmission of COVID-19 outside the Province and to prevent further spread of the virus in the country, there is no choice but to shut down and completely quarantine Khuzestan Province. (ISNA, February 24, 2021)
  • Mashhad University of Medical Sciences: The mutated COVID-19 is in transition in the Province and the entire country and has also infected Mashhad. (State TV, February 24, 2021)
  • Isfahan University of Medical Sciences: The British COVID-19 has sounded the alarm, and so far; we have had seven confirmed cases in Isfahan. (Mehr, February 25, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Thursday, February 25, 2021, that the Coronavirus fatalities in 486 cities had surpassed 221,400. The number of victims in Tehran is 52,636, Khorasan Razavi 14,710, Isfahan 14,270, Khuzestan 11,440, Mazandaran 9,357, Lorestan 9,153, West Azerbaijan 8,273, Gilan 7,916, Golestan 5,745, Alborz 5,573, Hamedan 5,213, Central Province 4,448, Semnan 3,430, and Ilam 2,276.
