Iran, January 7, 2021—Over 198,400 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 478 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Thursday afternoon local time, January 7. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 55,933 around a third of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 48,591 in Tehran, 13,435 in Razavi Khorasan, 12,395 in Isfahan, 8018 in Lorestan, 7652 in Mazandaran, 7745 in Qom, 7036 in Gilan, 6063 in Fars, 5165 in Alborz, 4917 in Golestan, 4703 in Hamedan, 4372 in Kerman, 4129 in Kermanshah, 3512 in Yazd, 3053 in North Khorasan, 2072 in Qazvin, 1871 in South Khorasan, and 1560 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.
