Iran: Human rights lawyer banned from practicing

NCRI - Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh says a court has banned her from practicing her profession for three years.
Mrs. Sotoudeh told AFP that she would not challenge the decision but will hold a sit-down protest outside the Iran Bar Association's headquarters in Tehran, starting on Tuesday.
"The tribunal made this illegal decision at the demand of a court based at Evin Prison," the Tehran jail where she served her sentence, Sotoudeh said by telephone to AFP.
"This ruling opens the way for the disqualification of other lawyers in the future," she added.
Sotoudeh, a mother of two, was sentenced to six years in prison in 2011 for "actions against national security and committing propaganda against the regime".
She was released from jail last year halfway through the six-year sentence.
