Sanandaj prison authorities hanged a Kurdish prisoner in the central prison on Wednesday. Bahman Hosseini was 60 years old at the time of hanging and has 4 children. An informed source in Urumia, northwester Iran told ’KordPa’ news agency that Mr. Hosseini was arrested 3 years ago around Sanandaj and was charged with narcotic dealings. He was sentence to life imprisonment in the primary court but his sentence was up graded to death by hanging at an appeal’s court.
The UN Secretary General had earlier said that execution is a legal homicide and these killings in countries such as Iran and Iraq are ’shameful’. According to UN special Rapportour on human rights in Iran, Dr. Ahmad Shaheed, during June 2013 to July 2014, more than 852 people have been executed in Iran which is much higher than the previous year.
