According to the local sources, a group of Sunni people who had gone to visit Sunni political prisoners at Gohardasht prison clashed with the security guards who insulted and harassed them during a body search.
The clashes erupted when families of political prisoners tried to visit their loved ones in the prison, but were required to submit to a body search. The guards used obscene language and treatment during the inspection of women. At that time men and women visitors protested this lewd action and subsequently clashed with the guards and Eslami, the officer in charge of the security.
People were so outraged that anti-riot police that was called to quell the unrest couldn’t do anything.
Jamshid Dehghan, one the Sunni political prisoners who witnessed the incident protested against this inhumane action and treatment of visitors, especially women. But being on the other side of the bars caused a violent reaction from the security guards and was severely beaten and injured.
