Gender segregation in Iran
Latest Iran crackdown news indicates Mohsen Pirhadi, an official of Tehran’s Bassij organization, referred to the subject of gender segregation in this the capital’s municipality and said, “Satellite TV networks are seeking to weaken the values of this social entity. They must answer why they insist our women be in much contact with people outside their families? Which Iranian or Muslim man doesn’t support the separation of the area where his female family members work from areas where strangers are? Mixing between men and women where relations contacts are open leads to lives being disrupted and increasing divorce. On this issue the Tehran mayor showed religious pride and has taken a good religious decision.” (State-run Fars news agency – July 22, 2014)
