Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison
On the evening of Monday, May 12th, two political prisoners by the names of Behnam Sheikhi and Hamid Manafi, detained in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, were transferred to an unknown location due to their hunger strike.
Behnam Sheikh and Hamid Manafi had started their hunger strike on April 22nd and May 8th, respectively.
Furthermore, another political prisoner by the name Mahmoud Ajaghlou was not released from jail despite providing the bail. Rajabi, a prison official, has said this prisoners’ refusal to end his hunger strike was the reason why he was not released on bail. Ajaghlou and a number of other political prisoners were on hunger strike protesting Sheikhi’s deteriorating conditions.
Also, it is said that Akbar Azad, another political prisoner held in ward 350 of Evin Prison, has had his bail assigned at 1.5 billion rials (around $61,000).
