Tabriz, Iran-April 20, 2015 – A low income vendor from Tabriz who had set himself ablaze in front of the city Hall on Sunday, April 19 died on Monday due to his wounds in the hospital and was buried at the city cemetery.
Hamid Farrokhi, 45 was married with three children, a son and two daughters.
The news of his self-immolation has angered many people in the city. His friends and others who had known him for years have been writing remarks on their websites saying that Hamid was another Asakareh – another vendor who also set himself ablaze in the southern city of Khoramshahr last month and died of his wounds.
People on the street where he used to work and relatives and friends put the blame on the suppressive policies of the government that only know how to put pressure on low income people, causing them to suffer, but don’t facilitate services for such poverty stricken people pushing them to the edge of suicide or the painful death of self-immolation.
