An inmate in the Urumiyeh Prison died suspiciously in solitary confinement on Friday, 20 June. His name was Habib Abassi and he was 40. Five days prior to his death, he was transferred to the prison’s solitary confinement for getting into an argument with one of the prison henchmen. There, he was placed under brutal tortures and beatings. According to reports in hand, the henchmen, in order to prevent this news from leaking, had locked the prison ward doors and banned the prisoners of any movement. Then the prisoner’s body was quickly removed from his cell.
