Iran: Execution of 12 prisoners in Urumiyeh

Nearly 800 recorded executions in the first year of Mullah Rouhani’s presidency; indicates that ‘moderation’ is a mirage in mullahs’ regime On Tuesday, June 17, mullahs’ regime henchmen collectively hanged six prisoners in Urumiyeh Prison. These prisoners Faramarz Pashai, Abdolvahab Dalir, Parviz Nik Khuy, Abdolkarim Herculi, Naghd Ali Rajai and Rashid Moradi were citizens of cities of Urumiyeh, Salmas and Naghadeh. Three of the victims were executed while their sentences were life imprisonment.
Previously, on June 14, on the anniversary of sham election of Rouhani, six other prisoners, including Hamed Aghai, Saeid Varmazyari, Ebrahim Dalai Milan and Arash Ahmadush, had been executed in Urumiyeh Prison.
The family of Faramarz Pashai from Urumiyeh who was executed on the charge of smuggling drugs on June 17, are opponents of the mullahs’ regime. Execution of political prisoners as smugglers is a well-known procedure by the religious fascism ruling Iran.
The mounting number of arbitrary and collective executions in the past year betrays the mirage of ‘moderation’ in the mullahs’ regime. Nearly 800 recorded executions in the first year of Mullah Rouhani’s presidency and his blatant defense of these atrocities demonstrates that Rouhani’s sole mission is to preserve a medieval regime that would swiftly fall if it were to abandon execution, suppression and massacre.
