Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 13,600 in 232 Cities

“The virus may last for a couple of years and security is our priority”

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced this afternoon, March 29, 2020, that the death toll for Coronavirus has risen to 13,600 in 232 cities across Iran. The number of victims in Ardabil has increased to 235, Tehran 1800, Qom 1480, Khuzestan 610, Lorestan 360, Zanjan 220, and in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad 90.

While Coronavirus is taking more and more lives on a daily basis as a result of the clerical regime’s cover-up, lies and incompetence, today, Hassan Rouhani shamelessly announced, “Security is a principle for us. All of our armed forces, border guards, and police are on the scene; if security is were to be undermined, it would be absolutely out of question.”

Rouhani, who had previously said the crisis would be finished by early April, said today, “This virus has entered, and it may exist another year or two, but we have to make conditions in society tolerable.”

Rouhani also claimed, “In some provinces, we passed the apex and are moving downward.” As Rouhani talks about moving downward, his website quoted a group of experts who met with him as saying: “It is still too early to say at what stage we are and whether we have reached the peak of the disease or are on track to stabilize it… we have to wait until the Nowruz trips end.”

According to state media, the head of the Golestan University of Medical Sciences said since mid-February, 284 nurses, 43 doctors and a total of 350 medical staff had been diagnosed with acute respiratory disease, suspected to be coronavirus.

Employees of Baghiatallah hospital in Tehran say 20 to 30 people die every day. In Qom, one doctor insisted that there were thousands of infected people and that the situation was getting worse every day. In Zanjan, doctors say at least five people die every day because of coronavirus only at Vali Asr Hospital, but doctors and medical staff are ordered not to give real statistics or would be fired.

There is widespread chaos within the regime. Mahmoud Sadeghi, a member of the parliament, said, “We are witnessing two governments and even no government in the country. We are witnessing the dangerous state of lacking a government.” He noted that the way they treated the Medecins Sans Frontieres “is a sign of disorder in the country’s administration.”
