Al-Arabiya TV broadcasts “Hellish Era” documentary on Iran after revolution

Al-Arabiya TV has begun airing a documentary series titled “Hellish Era” on May 31, 2015.

The focus Al-Arabiya TV series on the events of the past 36 years in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Political figures and the survivors of the political prisoners’ massacre of 1988 are interviewed in this program.

In this program, the prisoners who have been tortured in the Islamic Republic prisons from 1980 to 1988 speak of their prison memoirs and the horrendous scenes of collective executions, as well as the medieval tortures.

The victims speak in Farsi with Arabic language subtitles for the Arabic speaking audience of the Arab World.

Those interviewed from various political spectrum talk about their motives for the uprising against the Shah. They acknowledge that their impetus for rising against the Shah was to bring democracy and liberty to Iran and that they never thought Ayatollah Khomeini would deceive them. With the seizure of power by extremist mullahs, their hopes perished and in just a few months after the victory of the anti-monarchial revolution, summary executions, suppression and torture, unheard of during the reign of the monarchial rule were resumed.

In this documentary, seven tortured Iranians who have been witness to the crimes of the “Hellish Era” are interviewed.
