The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran announced on Friday that Coronavirus has taken lives of more than 16,800 in 238 cities across Iran. The death count in different provinces includes: 215 in East Azerbaijan, 375 in West Azerbaijan, 1585 in Isfahan, 60 in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, 40 in South Khorasan, 1300 in Khorasan Razavi, 720 in Khuzestan, 235 in Fars, 275 in Gazvin, 1720 in Qom, 285 in Kurdistan, 200 in Kerman, 435 in Kermanshah, 810 in Golestan, 1510 in Gilan, 473 in Lorestan, 265 in Central province and 405 in Hamadan. This is in addition to the death toll in other provinces. Iran: New Documents Reveal Regime Was Aware of the Coronavirus Outbreak in January The documents obtained by the People’s Mojahedin Organization from the National Emergency Organization makes it clear that Coronavirus was directly transmitted from China to Qom and Tehran. By late January, several infected individuals were identified in Tehran and the regime had allocated certain hospitals such as Massih Daneshvar, Yaftabad, and Khomeini to deal with these patients. The authorities tried their utmost to prevent any information about these cases from leaking. Concealing the information was the main cause for the sudden and rapid spread of the virus in Iran that subsequently spread to countries in the region, and the loss of a countless number of victims in Iran. Dr. Adham Esmail, the WHO representative in Iraq, said on March 30: “Iran spread this contagious disease to 17 countries. Iran is the cause of this contagious disease in 17 countries.” UN ‘Horrified’ as Young Man Dies in Iran Under Torture The UN voiced outrage Friday over the death of a juvenile offender in Iran following reported beatings by guards after prisoners protested seeking their release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are horrified at the death of a juvenile offender after he was reportedly badly beaten by security officers,” spokesman Rupert Colville told reporters in Geneva in a virtual briefing. He said prisoners at Mahabad had been protesting their “prison conditions and the failure of the authorities to temporarily release them amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”
