Iran news in brief, April 2, 2020 Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 15,500 in 237 Cities
he People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran announced on Wednesday that the fatalities of Coronavirus have risen to more than 15,500 in 237 cities across Iran. Despite the horrifying dimensions of the Coronavirus tragedy all over Iran, regime's president Hassan Rouhani added to his astronomical lies by claiming that thousands of beds remain unused in Intensive Care Units. Furious over the disclosure of the facts and figures about the Coronavirus catastrophe in Iran, Rouhani, deceitfully stated, “The nation has given a decisive response to the enemies and liars, but they are continuing their lies.” Iran: NCRI’s Official Anthem Played in Tehran, Other Cities On Monday, the Resistance Units played “Oh Iran” the official Anthem of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, in various parts of Tehran and other Iranian cities the same time, defiant youths in Tehran and other cities torched signs and placards of the suppressive Basij centers and IRGC branches which plunder people’s wealth. Maryam Rajavi Condemns Lengthy Prison Sentences for Political Activists The regime’s criminal judiciary in Mashhad has brutally sentenced Mr. Hashem Khastar, a teacher and activist to 16 years in prison. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran once again condemned these criminal verdicts, especially at a time when all prisoners should immediately be released because of the Coronavirus pandemic. She emphasized that this is a prime example of the brutality of the Supreme Leader and his Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi. Mrs. Rajavi called on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran to intervene for the release of these prisoners who are at the risk of losing their lives due to the Corona outbreak in prisons.
