Iran: shocking report of disabled people being tortured in city west of Tehran

Vicious torture of disabled people in Iran
Disabled people have been viciously tortured in a center for such individuals in the city of Karaj, west of the Iranian capital of Tehran, a report revealed on Tuesday, September 8th.
The families of these disabled individuals said their loved ones were “beaten and harassed”, adding some of them were even held in chains and the center employees would release dogs at them to frighten them.
Hossein Nahvi-nezhad, a senior official of the Iranian regime’s Hygiene Organization defended the practices of this center.
“This center has been active for 14 years and during this period all other centers have had mistakes and faults, but they never reached a point of being closed down,” he said.
The state-run “Iran” daily cited a father of one of the disabled individuals saying he had seen marks of “bites, beatings and bruises on his child’s body” and the forensics confirms his son was “tortured”.
The father of another disabled individual says his son was also tortured.
“They threatened us, saying if we file a complaint our child would not be accepted anywhere else. That is why we didn’t do anything,” he said.
