Iran: women repressed, eliminated from state organs

Increasing crackdown on women in Iran.
Shahindokht Molaverdi, Hassan Rouhani ’s vice president in women and family affairs, presented specific numbers and admitted that the presence of women in the Iranian regime’s so-called parliament is merely 3%, and just 1% in decision-making bodies. (September 7, 2015)
Prior to this and in remarks obviously intended to increase pressure on women, Mullah Makarem Shiraz stipulated that people must be demanding more (!) from the government on imposing pressure on women.
“Demand more from the government and officials in this regard! Because the government can issue statements and provide all kinds of suggestions in administrative offices, hospitals, passenger planes and other areas to emphasize on hijab and virtue, just as hijab is necessary in TV and radio programs. If the government cannot expand hijab throughout the society, why is it not placing its utmost efforts in this regard?! Lack of hijab will lead to moral corruption in the society; however, the next step will be politically motivated and an insult to the system, with hijab weakening altogether!” he said. Following this stance, Tehran’s police chief stipulated a vehicle with women not abiding hijab regulations will be confiscated!
“The police have been assigned to take action against improper clothing and mal-veiling, and the police will take action to stop the vehicles of such violators,” he said.
