Iran, Hunger Strike: Dawood Assadi on unlimited hunger strike in Evin prison

                  Prisoner on unlimited hunger strike
According to a report from inside Evin prison, Dawood Assadi a prisoner who is the solitary of ward No. 7 has begun an unlimited hanger strike since Saturday Jan. 10th. He is protesting against inhumane conditions in the prison, and is demanding to be sent for health examination and treatment.
Mr. Assadi, previously a prisoner in ward 350, is facing 7 years of imprisonment. He had sent a letter to the Secretary General Ban Ki moon to protest against being kept in a poor prison condition, but the regime henchmen have reacted and have started to torture him. In protest to this inhumane treatment, Mr. Assadi has vowed to continue his hunger strike for an indefinite period against the tortures.
Dawood Assadi was transferred to a hospital and underwent surgery, due to hip and bone complication and inflammation of his joints. But the harsh condition in the prison including lack of medical care continues without any treatments. The chilling cold weather in the cells due to shutting off all heating appliances has exacerbated the unbearable condition in the prison and contributed to his pains and suffering to the point that surgery has been the only way to alleviate his problems.
