Iran: Call to save political prisoner in Bandar Abbas prison

The physical condition of political prisoner Hassan Javani, a supporter of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), who has been on hunger strike for past 15 day in Bandar Abbas prison, has deteriorated. He suffers from headache, dizziness, nausea and severe drop in blood pressure.
Javani, 59, father of a child, after resisting mass extortion by Bahram Keshtkar, the corrupt and ruthless head of prison intelligence, had been transferred to Ward 2 of Bandar Abbas prison, where most inmates are drug addicts. He began his hunger strike on May 12 to protest his transfer.
Previously, Mr. Javani had been arrested in 1981 on charges of supporting the PMOI (MEK) and had spent 10 years in prison.
Last time, he was arrested on December 16, 2012 on charges of "acting against national security" and supporting the PMOI (MEK) and sentenced to 10 years prison and sent to exile to Bandar Abbas prison.
Due to horrible prison conditions and suffering cruel torture including lashing with cable, Javani is maimed and suffers various illnesses including heart disease. Despite his condition, the henchmen have deprived him from getting medical services and now he is held in overcrowded section of the prison and he is forced to rest in hallway.
The Iranian resistance calls on all international organizations, Special Rapporteurs on Arbitrary Detention and Torture and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran for an effective and urgent measure to save political prisoners specially Hassan Javani who currently is in critical condition.
