Afshin Ousanloo was a labor activist and a political prisoner in Iran.
HRANA News Agency – Political prisoner and labor activist Afshin Osanlou was transferred to a hospital outside Rajai-Shahr Prison and died on Thursday, June 20, 2013.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Afshin Osanlou was one of the founders of Labor Union of Suburban Drivers in Tehran. After he suffered a heart attack in prison, other political prisoners transferred him to the clinic in Rajai-Shahr Prison. He was then taken to a hospital outside the prison but died shortly after.
Afshin Osanlou was sentenced to spend five years in prison on charges of organizing opposition groups and plotting against the regime. The initial verdict was issued by Judge Abolqasem Salvati and later confirmed by the appeals court.
Mansour Osanlou who founded the Drivers’ Trade Union of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company is Afshin’s brother.
