Iran: the imminent threat of Execution

                     Pol. Prisoner, Bakhtiar Memari in imminent threat of execution

Speculations in to the impending execution of Bakhtiar Memari, a Kurdish political prisoner in the central Sanandaj prison has intensified. The family of Mr. Memari, condemned to death, has been talking about the threat of his execution in coming days. They say the order for the execution has apparently been sent to the department of carrying out sentences. Mullahs’ Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence and it has been forwarded to the provincial justice department and the threat of his execution is now imminent, according to one of his family member who is following his legal case. He has been threatened to be executed soon by the intelligence ministry agents twice during past few months. 

Mr. Bakhtiar, 37, a resident of Marivan, western Iran, was arrested by agents of the infamous intelligence ministry of Marivan on 4 August 2010. He was transferred to intelligence department prison in his city a day after his arrest where he spent 3 months under interrogations. He was denied visitors and any contacts with his family during this period.
