A political prisoner held in Gohardasht Prison, Karaj (26 miles west of Tehran) on the charges of insulting the supreme leader (Khamenei) three times, was sentenced to a total of nine years behind bars. He must remain in jail until 2019. Two of the three sentences in this case were issued while he was in prison.
This individual has been arrested many times before, once on May 1 at a Labor Day event in Tehran’s Laleh (Tulip) Park. Following this arrest he was sentenced to 9 months behind bars, of which he spent most of this time in solitary confinement of Evin Prison ’s ward 209.
