Iran: The Staggering Coronavirus Death Toll in 541 Cities Exceeds 265,200

 Saeed Namaki, regime’s Health Minister: We are now at the peak of the COVID-19 hospitalization. The peak of deaths has not arrived yet. We hope we will not experience 4-digit deaths. (ISNA news agency, April 25, 2021)

  • Alireza Raisi, the spokesperson for the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT): Currently, 18 provinces have an upward trend and seven provinces have a rapid upward trend (ISNA, April 25, 2021)
  • Masoud Mardani, a member of the NCCT: The COVID-19 mortality rate is high. The (officially) announced COVID-19 death toll must be higher. Many COVID-19 patients are not registered at all. (State TV, April 25, 2021)
  • Head of the Emerging and Recurring Diseases Research Center at the Pasteur Institute: In the coming days, we will witness a surge in Coronavirus deaths. (ISNA, April 25, 2021)
  • Hamid Emadi, head of the infectious diseases at the Khomeini Hospital in Tehran: The number of COVID-19 patients admitted to ICUs have exceeded 5,000; they are not in a good condition. (Mehr news agency, April 25, 2021)
  • Isfahan University of Medical Sciences: 1,680 COVID-19 patients were identified in one day, 430 were hospitalized, and 39 died. Only 275 patients were discharged. (Mehr, April 25, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, April 25, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 541 cities had exceeded 265,200. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 60,701, Isfahan 17,310, Khorasan Razavi 16,745, Khuzestan 16,094, Mazandaran 11,155, Lorestan 11,118,East Azerbaijan 10,888, West Azerbaijan 9,958, Gilan 9,271, Fars 8,017, Alborz 6,828, Sistan and Baluchestan 6,031, Hamedan 5,978, Kerman 5,964, Central Province 5,538, Kermanshah 5,324, Yazd 4,667, Kurdistan 4,627, Ardabil 3,327, Qazvin 3,059, Bushehr 2,729, South Khorasan 2,586, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 2,165, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad 2,074.
