Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 522 Cities Exceeds 236,300

 NCCT spokesperson: Parts of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Isfahan, Ilam are likely to turn red, Tehran turns orange

  • Payam Tabarsi, member of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT): At least in Tehran, we have entered the fourth peak of the COVID-19 outbreak and have been facing a flood of patients since March 21, 2021. Hospitals will be saturated in two weeks, and mortality will increase from Mid-April. This process cannot be stopped, and it should not be blamed on the people. The NCCT should have banned travels.   • Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences: Currently, 1,624 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in 39 hospitals of the Province, and 400 patients are under ICU supervision. (IRNA news agency, March 23, 2021)
  • Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences: With the identification of 29 new COVID-19 patients, the total number of patients with the British COVID-19 variant has reached 299 in the past 24 hours. (ISNA news agency, March 23, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 522 cities had exceeded 236,300. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 54,971, Isfahan 15,330, Khuzestan 13,514, Mazandaran 10,110, West Azerbaijan 8,858, Gilan 8,321, Fars 6,947, Golestan 6,120, Kurdistan 4,077, Kerman 5,229, Central Province 4,873, Kermanshah 4,739, Yazd 4,277, and Ilam 2,416.
